Participatory, Information and Environmental Design: A Lecture by Afrouz Razavi

On Tuesday, October 27, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, Paris College of Art welcomes graphic designer, art director and educator Afrouz Razavi for a lecture in the PCA Gallery.
The lecture presents a selection of professional and academic projects exploring the relationship between environmental design, graphic and information design, signage, and social innovation. Drawing on projects developed with migrants, local communities, public institutions and students, it examines how participatory design can improve everyday life in public spaces.
Case studies include projects on environmental awareness, waste management, public information, urban identity, and sensitive mapping as a way of understanding the social and cultural dimensions of a place.
The lecture also presents workshops and teaching experiences from universities and design schools in France, China, India and beyond. Through these projects, students investigate local issues, work with communities and stakeholders, and develop visual communication systems that respond to real needs while improving accessibility, orientation and public engagement.
Combining professional practice and teaching, Afrouz Razavi reflects on the designer’s role as a facilitator of dialogue and collaboration, and on how information design and environmental graphic design can support more inclusive, meaningful and sustainable public spaces.
