Paris College of Art Summer Program Terms and Conditions of Enrollment
By enrolling in the Paris College of Art Summer Program, I agree to the following terms and conditions:
In the text that follows, we articulate the major regulations for our students. We take the well-being of our students very seriously and the success of our program depends upon their adherence to the principles that influence our collective life in Paris. It is crucial that students and, for minors, their parents are thoroughly familiar with these policies so that there are no issues of conflicting expectations once the program begins.
As members of the Paris College of Art Summer Program community, students are expected to be capable of assuming responsibility for their behavior and willing to comply with the program’s regulations designed to protect the well-being and security of all participants. Through its courses, activities and events, the Paris College of Art Summer Program grants all participants the opportunity of individual responsibility; it allows students a chance to learn to make decisions wisely and to manage their time accordingly. At the same time, the faculty and staff of the program are concerned with ensuring the health, welfare and safety of all students so that they may enjoy fully the benefits of living and studying abroad.
Our basic policy is to forbid any behavior that is illegal, antisocial, or dangerous, whether to the individual student or to the group. Some specific points that all students are expected to uphold follow from this: Program policy completely prohibits the consumption or possession of alcohol by any students under 18. Drunkenness and disorderly behavior by any student is strictly forbidden.
Possession, sale or use of illegal drugs is strictly forbidden in the Paris College of Art Summer Program. Please note that all of these acts are classified as criminal offenses in France, and the police treat any transgression of the drug laws very severely. If a student is found to have done so, there is little your Embassy or domestic lawyers can do to help you.
For reasons of fire safety, law, and health smoking is prohibited within the school premises. Students are required to attend all classes, and to arrive at classes on time. They are also expected to attend all activities required by their teacher(s) unless illness makes it impossible to do so.
In the Paris College of Art Summer Program, plagiarism – the practice of dishonestly claiming original ownership of material which one has not actually created, such as when a person incorporates material from someone else’s work into his/her own work without attributing it (either from a book or the Internet) – is seen as academic dishonesty, and is a serious and punishable offense. Any student who plagiarizes will not receive a grade for the course and could face expulsion from the program.
By enrolling in this program students agree to abide by the decisions of Paris College of Art, where matters of the welfare of the group as a whole are concerned. A student is accepted in this program on the assumption that he or she is a mature individual and that the school assumes no responsibility for the conduct of a student’s personal life.
Students who do not adhere to the rules and regulations laid out in the Terms and Conditions – or in any way engage in illegal, antisocial, or dangerous behavior – are subject to disciplinary procedures at the discretion of Paris College of Art, up to and including dismissal from the program.
Infractions of these terms and conditions will result in immediate dismissal from the Paris College of Art Summer Program. Dismissal from the program requires that the student return home unaccompanied. All expenses connected with the dismissal of a student, including travel, are the responsibility of the student. No program fees will be refunded.
The Paris College of Art Summer Program reserves the right to display or publish photographs and film of its students. Under Paris College of Art’s Intellectual Property Policy, the school shall have a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use the works created by its students and faculty for archival, reference, research, classroom, and other educational purposes. With regard to tangible works of fine art or applied art, this license will attach only to stored images of such work (e.g., slides, videos, digitized images) and does not give the university a right to the tangible works themselves.
Student Acknowledgement
I, (name of student), acknowledge that I have accessed and read the Student Handbook and that I am aware of all policies, rules and rights that apply to me as a student of Paris College of Art.
As a student of Paris College of Art, I am committed to taking an active role in my own education
and to:
• Maintain good academic standing;
• Attend all sessions of all my course(s) in a timely fashion;
• Demonstrate academic integrity and honesty at all times;
• Abide by the school’s IT Charter; and
• Conduct myself in a manner consistent with the school values and mission.
If I have any questions about the information contained in the Student Handbook I know that I can address them to the Student Success and the Registrar’s Offices.
