This program is designed for students whose primary focus is drawing, offering new contexts to expand their practice. Here, drawing isn’t just a preparatory tool—it’s the core work. Each workshop builds on individual studio investigations, encouraging students to rethink their work through fresh materials, methods, and ideas.
The MA/MFA Drawing program combines contemporary approaches with academic rigor, fostering a convergence of both. Students can choose between a 1-year MA or a 2-year MFA, with an emphasis on professional practice and research. MFA students will also focus on teaching drawing.
Collaboration is key. Students engage with creatives across disciplines, sparking bold new directions. Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree with a studio component, and a portfolio demonstrating fine arts practice is required.
Drawing as a contemporary practice is understood as more than a support or preparation for other disciplines: it is considered the work, drawing as a studio practice.
